When I settling on my desk in the office (previous company), one of my
staff (let me call her as Miss A) came and knock furiously on my door. She
immediately sat on the empty chair in front of me. Through her body language, I can
see that she is in bad mood. Filled with rage, she complains about her
colleague (Miss B). She then bursts into tears.
I was surprised as all of us (in the team) know that both of them are
good friends. I wonder what had happened.
I made a decision. I cannot simply believe a story from one side. I
need to communicate with Miss B. I need to listen from both sides.

On one fine morning, I called Miss B to my office. I talk to her. I
admit that I tried very hard so that she can open up to me. And yes, it works!
She finally told me what is bugging her. Miss B told me the story from her
side.
After listening to Miss A and Miss B, I clearly can see that there
are misunderstandings between them. I decided to call both of them to my
office. We discuss and solve the problem together.
I strongly believe that this situation could happen anywhere at any
time. I urge all leaders out there to listen from both sides first rather than
jump to conclusions. Sit and discuss with both parties so that they can
justify. If the case involves witnesses, ask them to be there as well. Clarify
the situation. Solve the conflict in a rightful, mature way. Be a LEADER, not a
BOSS! There are big differences between a LEADER and a BOSS!
The people need a good leader to nurture a company so that it will
grow. Your staff will definitely appreciate the company once you show how much
you care about them. Gain their trust, and you will see positive changes in the
work environment!

Remember, leaders! If the situation above ever happened to you, please
hear the stories from both sides. Never judge your staff by simply listening
from one side. You may lose your best team player if you don’t handle the
situation in a professional manner.
Yes, I am speaking through experience.
God bless.
